A Client’s Story

From my first introduction to the staff at Neuro-Ability Rehabilitation Services, I knew I had found the physiotherapists and methods that were the best for my recovery from neurosurgery. The staff are highly skilled, innovative, friendly, attentive, encouraging, and motivating.  When I first started my physio sessions, I had no use of my weakened left arm and hand, had little use of my left leg and foot, could barely walk with a walker, had poor balance, little muscle strength, no confidence, and was at high risk of falling. After working with my Neuro- Ability team, I now have enough use of my hand and arm to complete simple tasks, confidently walk with a quad cane, climb up and down stairs, and with my cane I can walk a little around my neighbourhood. By doing my carefully prescribed exercises, I feel stronger every day, can measure my progress, and I feel more empowered and full of happy endorphins. My recovery has progressed much more than I had anticipated, and I look forward to an even fuller recovery. Thank you to my knowledgeable, wonderful team at Neuro-Ability Rehabilitation Services.

Thanks to my highly skilled, understanding, and encouraging team at Neuro-Ability Rehabilitation Services, I feel stronger, happier, and more capable every day. My recovery from neurosurgery is ongoing, and I marvel at the progress my Neuro-Ability team have helped me accomplish. I look forward to an even fuller recovery and to regaining complete independence and the activities that I enjoy.

Harvey’s Story

I am a 72 year old male who was born with spina bifida. When l was 70 I had a stroke which affected the left side of my body. Because of the stroke on top of the spina bifida things were going to be challenging. When I was released from rehab I was given a list of five physio services to resume my recovery. One of these was Neuro-Ability Rehabilitation Services. I looked at their website and read the resume of Libby Swain who I thought would be perfect for me. I met with Libby and decided to continue my physiotherapy with Neuro-Ability.

I now work with Llbby, Callie and Levana. Neuro-Ability has great computer software and the physios are diligent at charting what they are doing. The really great thing is that the other two physios are reading these charts and are up to date on the treatments. The physios are also constantly thinking out-side-the box and looking for new ways to reach my goals. The physios are kind, patient and very helpful in dealing with the psychological and cognitive issues which can arise with a stroke. The sessions for me are one-hour in length, always start on time and are one on one. The receptionists, Daniela and Sofia, are very patient and proficient in booking appointments, and making adjustments to those appointments when necessary.
