Sophie Melvin

Sophie graduated from University College Dublin with a Bachelor of Science in Physiotherapy in 2018. After graduating, Sophie worked in a large acute hospital in her home town of Dublin, Ireland where she gained experience in ICU, acute medicine and neurological rehabilitation settings. In 2020 Sophie moved to British Columbia where she started work in the Fraser Health Authority. During this time she has worked across the continuum of care and with a variety of clinical populations such as stroke, acute medical, renal and orthopedics. Since 2021 Sophie has been working in the outpatient multidisciplinary rehabilitation program at Surrey Memorial Hospital serving a variety of neurological and complex medical populations including stroke, MS, Guillain Barre syndrome, functional movement disorder and spinal cord injury.

Sophie has completed the basic post graduate course in the Bobath concept and looks forward to completing her first advanced course in spring 2023. She has also completed Parkinson's Warrior Level 1 and 2 as well as several motivational interviewing courses. Sophie is a dedicated clinician and thoroughly enjoys getting to know and understand her patients' needs in order to support them in achieving and maintaining their physical potential.

Sophie is very excited to be a new member of the Neuro-Ability team where she can continue to develop her passion for neurological rehabilitation. Outside of her time in the clinic or the hospital, she can be found exploring the outdoors on skis or bike depending on the season, as well as training for triathlon year round.
