Callie travelled a unique path to her arrival as a physiotherapist. In 1999, she obtained her Bachelor of Engineering (Computer) from the University of Victoria, as well as her BCRPA certification as a fitness and yoga leader.  She combined these two passions for fifteen years before deciding that physiotherapy was the perfect marriage of human movement and the scientific process. In 2016, Callie received her Master of Physical Therapy from the University of British Columbia and started working in a myriad of settings including inpatient neurological rehabilitation and outpatient pelvic floor physiotherapy for Providence Healthcare.  After completing multiple courses in the Bobath concept, she joined the Neuro-Ability team in 2019. Since then, she’s continued part-time in the public sector, working in long-term care and mental health settings for Providence.

Callie’s main interests are in neurological rehabilitation and pelvic floor health, having completed courses in the Bobath concept, vestibular rehabilitation, and the treatment of female and male incontinence. She enjoys working with all ages and, from her fitness background, has a keen interest in exercise prescription and progression.  With experience as a pelvic floor physiotherapist, she influences participation and empowers her clients in an entirely different, and profoundly personal way.  Working in mental health, she’s gained a solid appreciation for the ways that neuroleptic drugs used to treat conditions such as dementia, anxiety, depression, bipolar and schizoaffective disorders can negatively affect client mobility. She’s also realized the prevalence of depression following neurological injury and the importance of proper management alongside physical rehabilitation.

Callie’s found that a common thread exists in her interests – be it neurological rehabilitation, pelvic floor health, or mental health, she’s deeply interested in treating each client as a whole person.

In her spare time, Callie enjoys yoga, swimming, biking and running, spending lazy days with her family and dog at their cabin, and getting muddy in her garden.
